It's the early 20s, just after World War I. In Sweden, restrictions on alcohol are harder than most people like and so, smuggling is abundant. In this particular little town, smuggling is ruled by one man, who is the king of smugglers. The smugglers who work for him don't get to keep much of the profit themselves, but if they don't work for him, they get in trouble, which his henchmen make sure. However, Albert Jansson arrives in town and starts taking up the competition with the smuggler king. Meanwhile, the police, together the customs office, try to catch the smugglers.

"Unidentified Porn Movie" - Elderly gentleman gets acquainted with a young girl outside a restaurant. She is lost in the city. They take a short walk around the block to an adult movie theatre. The old gentleman buys tickets and brings the girl inside. While they watch the program other men enter.

A group of Americans who live together in an old mansion somewhere in Sweden spend their time between working at the local airplane plant and hanging out with their revolutionary friends. Smoke has something going with his boss's daughter, but when the boss finds out, he has some dudes beat up Smoke. This leads to a strike among the workers, and a break between the boss and his daughter who goes to live with Smoke and his friends. Jonas stops and helps her up. He gives Birgit two Swedish crowns for the pain and the suffering. Furthermore, he promises her a job on the farm.

A young worker has decided he must get to buy a lottery ticket with the number 33.333. He manage to get the ticket. This leads to a long series of complicated developments.

Director Hugo Berner and Doctor Olof Mellgren have come out of the theater where they have just shown the classic play Pygmalion. Director Mellgren claims that, like Higgins in the play, he can turn a harbor worker into the gentleman.

16-year-old Marianne will be confirmed. She is reluctant to do this, but her mother is more than happy for her to complete the confirmation. Marianne travels to a rectory in the country where she and a group of other girls will live while they read to the priest. On Midsummer's Eve, she meets by chance one of the other confirmands' fiancés and the feeling arises.
