Released from the Mental Health Wing of São Paulo State Penitentiary after forty years, the sadistic undertaker Zé do Caixão is back on the streets, haunted by ghostly visions and spirits of past victims but still set upon the goal that sent him to prison in the first place: finding a woman who can give him the perfect child.

The first documentary on José Mojica Marins's (the legendary Zé do Caixão or Coffin Joe) life and work. The film tells Mojica's history, from his poor childhood in Vila Anastácio, São Paulo (Brazil), until his success abroad in the '90s.

As a child he was kidnapped by gypsies that raised him, without he ever knowing his parents. As a young man Tonho leaves the gypsies and go live by himself, meeting in his way a beautiful woman, who lost her brother, and a dangerous gang of violent criminals.
