A couple on the verge of getting married gets mixed up with a gang of thugs in this routine crime drama that underscores the Socio-economic disparity in the Mexican culture. The upper-class couple rides along with outsiders who go club-hopping and resort to petty thievery. After their adventure, the couple questions whether or not they are right for each other.

The peasant and revolutionary Zapatista Simon Blanco still in arms but Zapata is dead. Simon with his lieutenant Andres visits his mother and his girlfriend in his hometown. The cacique Onesimo and his brother, the commissioner Martial put ambushes but he eludes them.

Angélica and José Luis have been married for thirty years and they have always lived at the same house; first with their son, Daniel, and now, by themselves. She falls in love with an older man (Julio Alemán) whom is married and mediocre, and thus learns the hard way about unhappiness, marring her rose colored world.

Another woman is tasked with caring for her lecherous uncle on his deathbed. A young man gets into trouble with his girlfriend's family when she suggests opening up their relationship.

Mari Gaila (Silvia Pinal), is an adulteress who lives between ragged, thieves, prostitutes, dwarfs and other misshapen beings, in a rare box at a country and a vague time. Her husband, is a poor sacristan who agrees with other relatives to do business with the display of his orphaned nephew, a mentally retarded dwarf. Caught in committing adultery with her lover, Mari Gaila is caged naked and punished by the people.

While attending the birth of Isabel, the wife of foreigner Felipe, Mama Santos predicts that "something terrible is going to happen in the town." From this omen, calamities will torment the locals.

In the film "A fuego lento," Guadalupe Palma, a dancer and part-time prostitute, finds herself at the center of a suspenseful and enigmatic story, inadvertently setting off a chaotic pursuit by various factions, including ruthless gangsters. Her impoverished musician boyfriend, Óscar, becomes entangled in the intrigue, resulting in a unique cinematic experience with minimal dialogue.
