Tennessee singing G.I. Verne Brand travels to New York City after his Army discharge. Alongside his buddies, he convinces a former bookie turned record executive to sign him, leading to a massive publicity blitz and attention from socialite Zsa Zsa Gabor. The situation draws Verne's hometown sweetheart, Marietta. to the city just as Verne becomes a television sensation in a high-stakes network ratings battle. Ultimately, Verne chooses his roots over fame, returning to Tennessee with Marietta to open a local recording studio.

A villainous cavalry officer is trying to force the owner of a hacienda to give him his land when a courageous settler comes to the rescue.

The outlaw Stragg has the town so intimidated that no one will speak against him no matter what he does. Sheriff Young heads for a nearby town, where there is a witness willing to testify. Meanwhile, Stragg hires a gunman to take care of the sheriff and the witness.

Down a dusty road in the deep South, wanders a young man, Arlin Grove, with a guitar and his earthly belongings on his back, just released from the U. A. Army, with no place to go. When a Hootenanny comes to town, it just discovered that Arlin not only has an exciting voice, he also is a gifted guitar player. He is soon appearing on the Grand Ole Opry stage in Nashville.

In this musical gem, big-hearted Jubal Bristol (Arnold Stang) takes it upon himself to mount a country and western benefit concert after the opera company that his wife (Pamela Hayes) booked suddenly backs out. Along with country icons Minnie Pearl, Dottie West, Connie Smith and Faron Young, the film features great tunes such as "Born to Lose," "Abilene" and "Young Love." Huntz Hall and Leo Gorcey (of Bowery Boys fame) portray stagehands.
