In a series of linked, short tales-of-horror, an unmanned spacecraft returning from the asteroid Vesta breaks up upon re-entry into the Earth's atmosphere and scatters sample containers across Phantom Lake County! Not-so-unexpectedly, contact with the mysterious, otherworldly contents of these canisters creates a whole host of terrifying creatures—like mushroom monsters, killer garden gnomes, and more!

Steve has gone missing but Stu, his loyal sidekick (and nephew), knows exactly how to find him: get human help! He sets out to find Steve's old friend, Danny Johnson, and discovers the next best thing: Danny's sister Evelyn (Alice Mihm)! With Evelyn's help, Stu embarks on a wild adventure that takes him from outer space to the North Pole and several exotic points in between. Along the way, he battles an old nemesis, meets one of Earth's most legendary holiday characters, and celebrates the joys of the holiday season!

Along with the sheriff and small-town farmer Stan Johnson (the children's father), the rescue party quickly comes to the realization that if the caves don't get them, whatever unseen terror lurking in the shadows just might!

Stuck in their house during a government-mandated worldwide quarantine, the Phantom Lake Kids (Danny Johnson, his sisters Alice and Evelyn, and their wacky friends Butch, Chip, and Billy Blue) are shocked when most of the gang inexplicably disappears in a flash of light-then reappears moments later. When Alice doesn't return, the rest must meticulously (and hilariously) unravel the mystery behind her disappearance and the invisible forces behind it. Could it be...aliens?
