Film about a woman's struggle in a male-dominated society in the late 1800s. Amalie Skram was one of our first female writers who fought woman liberation cause. In a society that did not accept that a woman could have its own independent work, it was difficult for a woman to work as a creative artist, wife and mother. The author's autobiographical novels "Professor Hieronimus" and "On St. Jorgen" underlies this film.

After Anschluss — the Nazi invasion and incorporation of Austria in 1938 — a group of Jewish children travel from Vienna to Oslo for summer camp. But when the time comes for them to return home, the political conditions on the continent have worsened and they can no longer return to their families. In Norway, an orphanage is established to look after these effectively homeless children, one of whom is director Nina Grünfeld’s father.

Julie is a young and newly qualified teacher from Copenhagen, Denmark. Fed up with her unfaithful boyfriend and big city life, she takes a job as a teacher on an idyllic island in southern Norway. Julie finds it difficult to be accepted in the closed-net community of the island. Slowly but surely, she discovers that the idyllic island hides many dark secrets.

A political drama about Roald, a young man stuck in the wrong place at the wrong time. Roald is politically ambitious but he does not have enough real-world savvy to protect himself from the shark-infested waters around him. After all, he has only been in office for a short time. His tendency to compromise on issues gets him into trouble in an election year when it is discovered that the CIA has been funding the Norwegian Young Labour Party.
