Munthe has become a rich farmer through his own work and has gained some influence in the local community. He is strongly opposed to the immigration of east European farm labour from Galicia who, he claims, makes life difficult for the locals. A new school teacher with socialist leanings arrive and Munthe's daughter fall in love with him. Plot by Mattias Thuresson.

The widow Maja Brummell lives in Stockholm with her daughters Elsa, Brita, Ann-Marie, Svea and Ingrid. Mrs. Brummell has a lousy business sense.

Brita moves from the countryside and her parent's cabbage patch to work as a housemaid in Stockholm. The big city overwhelms her at first and she falls in love with a young man. But one day Arvid, an infatuated young man from the old village also comes to Stockholm to express his love for her.

A young medical student falls in love with her professor. To pay for her studies, she works extra nights and performs as a popular singer at a dance restaurant. But she is fired because of an unpleasant guest and takes a job as a maid. The professor appears in the family and a carousel of lies takes off.

We are in New York. A young Danish girl has a conversation with the Danish-American Mr. Lang. It is understood that she loves his son and that he has sent the young man to London because he thinks they are both too young. Furthermore, it is clear from the conversation that he is about to file for divorce. The young girl is worried about how his little daughter will fare - despite her youth, she has had bitter experiences herself, and she tells Mr. Lang her story.

The office worker Eva is told that she has inherited a massive amount of money in the United States.
