An immature couple spends their vacation in their homeland, a Tatar village. She's a doctor. He probably works in the field of rocket engineering. Encounters with the forgotten past and loved ones help to restore the lost sincerity and warmth of feelings of both of them.

In the cramped cockpit of the boat, of which Ivan Burlakov has long been the captain and where Elenka, not jokingly called his wife, works as a sailor, a new employee appears - the captain's assistant Sergei. Outwardly energetic and open, he quickly achieves Elenka’s love. And just as quickly - Ivan’s dismissal.

The story is about old village residents who, due to the expansion of the collective farm, have to leave their huts and their homes.

Mid 20th century. Industry is developing rapidly and the need for workers in factories is growing. After graduating from the tenth year, Viktor Chernyshyov, now a city dweller, did not bother to continue his education and went to the plant as a turner. He considered it quite normal that the guys enthusiastically listened to the stories of his peer Kolya, a lounger who boasted of victories over women, and participated in his dubious amusements. Only one of them, Pyotr — a real worker, a doctor, tried to reason with Kolya and the others.

Three heavily drunk friends break into the Zoo and kill a few deer...
