Gholam-Hossein Sa'edi

Gholam-Hossein Saedi was an acclaimed Iranian author, playwright and screenwriter with an oeuvre that contains more than thirty publications. Freedom And Other Maladies depicts Saedi's restless passion and heartbroken demise based on letters that he wrote over the years as well as interviews with his close friends and associates. The documentary film focuses on the last four years of Saedi's life in Paris, at the peak of his suffering, painfully aware that he would die in exile.

Ali and his father go from their poor neighborhood in the outskirts of the city to a hospital so that Ali's father can be treated for his sickness. However since they have no money, Ali starts to work for Dr. Sameri who deals in blood.

An aging colonel retires, marries a provincial teacher, and moves to Tehran to be close to his two adult daughters. Instead of a peaceful reunion, he finds them living independent, urban lives he no longer recognizes. As the cultural and generational rift deepens, the family enters a tense, psychological spiral of alienation and emotional unrest.
