Married to an illiterate Dutch farmer, Keet yearns for a child. She sets matters on course by arranging for a smart city girl, Lena, to live in and teach the slow-witted Brand. She encourages the developing affair between them, accepting secondary status in the household when Lena has a child. But her plans to eliminate the competition demand decisive action from Brand.

Pluk has a great red crane truck, but no home. Like every little boy, he needs a place to live. So it fits well that a tower room is available in the colorful Petteflet apartment block. Katootje lives in Droogbaak, a very neat municipality. And the neatest people in the whole town are Katootje's father and the neighbor. Katootje, who is almost eight, would like a pet, but she is not allowed to have one, especially not when the queen is visiting Droogbaak and the mayor is organizing a cleanliness competition. So it is not very convenient that her anti-authoritarian aunt Gazeuse and her fiancé, the feisty inventor O.J., unexpectedly come to stay at the Loire. Fortunately for Katootje, things become more fun and exciting at home, and O.J. helps her father in the fight against the cheating neighbor. Still, it takes a while for her father to learn his lesson: there are more important things in life than peace, cleanliness, and regularity.

Drama set in Twente's textile industry in the 1960s. The young worker Johanna wants to face the social conditions of the time. Their struggle coincides with the economic reconstruction and the arrival of Italy's first workers. Growing tensions between Twente's citizens and the newly arrived Italians lead to the riots in 1961. Along with her new lover Francesco, Johanna is in the eye of the storm.
