A film about the life of the Roma people, the most closed ethnic group today. Influential thieves' clans, barons and drug lords, early marriages, artists on stage and in life, anti-Roma riots in Europe and Roma riots in Russia - the whole truth about the problems, sorrows and joys of the modern Roma community.

Follows the deportation of Karachays, which took place at the end of World War II. The film's director, himself a Karachay, tried to convey the experiences of people, life and culture, considering it important to make people realize what that did to him and his people.

The fire department is preparing for the New Year. Three activists of amateur performances decide to kidnap professional artists for a New Year's concert. A police captain investigates the kidnapping and listens to complaints from the “unkidnapped” artists.

The movie takes place during Russia's civil war between the Reds (Bolsheviks) and the Whites (Mensheviks). Andrejka and Yarinka are a young betrothed couple in the village of Malinovka, caught between the battle lines. Gritsian is the leader of a Menshevik band who are planning to attack the village. Yarinka appeals to the local Bolshevik commander for his faction's help. The Bolsheviks quickly come up with a plan to save the village... but the plan requires Yarinka to enter into a pretend marriage with Gritsian.

Jaak is a young labourer always facing some kind of issues and it seems he always rides for a fall. At the construction work of a new thermal power station, Jaak meets young people from the Young Communist League who won't find faults with him and are ready to help him out.

This documentary is devoted to the work of theatre and film actor and singer Nikolai Slichenko. Since 1977, he has been the artistic director of Moscow's Romen Theatre, the oldest professional Romani theatre in the world.
