Before the war, he led the work on strengthening the Brest Fortress and the approaches to Leningrad. In 1940 he was 60 years old. The beginning of the war found him in Belorussia. After one of the battles, seriously wounded, he was taken prisoner to the Mauthausen camp, where he fought against fascism for 1320 days.

Kazimierz Zaliwski was born into an intellectual family, he graduated from high school, and knows two foreign languages. The foreman, in love with his daughter, decides not to continue his studies. He wants to take a job as a locksmith in a factory.

University ice-sailing trainees face a hostel fire when caretaker Krenzel rescues Captain Klaus’s swapped suitcase, barring him from travel due to a stolen Hogarth print inside. X-rays reveal a hidden engraving; detectives Hübner and Lindt expose forger Sander and Krenzel. After Krenzel’s sabotage fails and both are arrested, Klaus is exonerated and rejoins his team for the international regatta.
