Stephanie and Emily reunite on the beautiful island of Capri, Italy for Emily's extravagant wedding to a rich Italian businessman. Following her husband's death, a widow decides to remarry his former business partner. When the woman's daughter returns home for a break from her college studies, she begins to suspect her stepfather's fidelity. Upon investigation, she discovers that he is having an affair with another woman, who is found dead shortly thereafter.

The plot focuses on the classic "Italian scams", where those who deceive are in turn duped by other individuals. The amount lost increases from time to time and from the initial thousand euros it reaches a figure equal to two million.
