A mental hospital somewhere in Tuscany during the thirties. Far away from fascism, this closed world is rules over by Dr. Bonaccorsi, a passionate benevolent psychiatrist whose dream is to isolate the germ of madness. He is also a very active ladies'man and makes three women benefit from his sexual itch: Francesca the hospital manager's wife, Bianca, his devoted nurse and Carla, a nymphomaniac doctor's wife. His well-ordered universe starts being challenged with the coming of Anna, a trainee psychiatrist, who disapproves of his theory on the origin of madness. Worse, she resists his advances. As Bonaccorsi is more insecure than he looks, what will become of him?

Vincenzo 'hunchback' plans a robbery on a armored police van with his gang. Once the job is done, his gang try to kill him and absconds with the loot. Vincenzo hides in the sewers before looking up his friend Monezza who the police later interrogate for his involvement with vincenzo. Meanwhile, Vincenzo is getting revenge on his gang by killing them off one at the time in his various brutal ways.

Rubina arrives in Rome from the high mountain in search of her boyfriend Carlo, who refuses to keep her word of marriage, in view of which she falsely accuses him of having raped her and the boy is imprisoned. Rubina is placed as a maid in David's house. David who has a bizarre family runs a boutique with his son Leo. She soon becomes a clerk in the store, where she conquers everyone, and marries Leo. She will have various sexual experiences. But she gets pregnant by her boyfriend who has since been released from prison.

The story of fish-monger Nino of Rione Borgo. Nino is in love with Rosa but he always manages to postpone their wedding.

A shoot out after a robbery ends with the death of the Chief of Police. Police detective Ghini goes in search of a suspect, Lanza, to avenge the death of his boss. Ghini's search leads him to Belli, a Sicilian gangster and 'Trashy', the dirty leader of a gang of killers. The action is violent as both police and criminals track down Belli who still finds some time to attempt a couple of robberies...

In this film, as in all my previous ones, there is a direct connection between inner urges and cinematic rendering. I tried to visualize my present aspiration to recover, through the various ways taught by one’s experience, the easiness, directness and ripeness proper to children’s relationships and affective life.
