After brothers Jonathan and Crusty pass away, they reunite in Nangijala, the land of eternal spring. Casting a long shadow over their world is the tyrant Tengil, ruler of the country Karmanjaka, where he’s building his new fortress up in the Ancient Mountains.

The journalist Alf Mattson gets thoroughly drunk at his birthday party, where his wife announces that she intends to divorce him. He is knocked down on the street and is later carried home by a friend. The next day he is to fly to Budapest in order to make a report for the Stockholm television. Mattson disappears in Budapest.

When private 91 "Mandel" Karlsson is appointed General due to a computer error, he tricks a foreign military attaché into believing that the Swedish defense has a new weapon that turns male soldiers into women.

Young Felix is a trainee at a fire station, but he is afraid of heights and can not stand the sight of blood. His future as a fireman is doubtful and when he is suspended he steals an ambulance to prove his mettle.
