Every year, many Germans are preparing to spend their vacations in the sunny south. And they all have to use the same highways. And every year everything ends in a big traffic jam.

With the dangerous smoothness of a tiger stalking his prey, Peter has circled the au pair Michèle. She quickly succumbs to his fascinating charisma and experiences for the first time a hitherto unknown, tender security. "I'll kill you," says Peter, as gently as cold-bloodedly. A macabre joke or a serious warning?

Katlewski is in his early 20s and a miner from Recklinghausen. He no longer realizes his marriage to his wife and the prosperity they have achieved.

Erich Kasulke and Rudolf Portmann are comedian stars of the former GDR. When the Wall falls, so does their success. Portmann becomes a successful businessman, while Kasulke tries to continue working on the comedy circuit - without success. When his wife also cheats on him, he decides to start a new life in Berlin. There he quickly meets his old friend Portmann, who has built up a huge company. He offers him a job. But Erich puts the entire company in danger...
