In 1968, art students Storm Thorgerson and Aubrey “Po” Powell made a trippy photo collage for their musician friends Syd, David and Roger. The resulting album and album cover, A Saucerful of Secrets, helped launch two careers: that of Pink Floyd, one of the 70s megabands, and of Hipgnosis, which, over the course of the next 25 years, designed a stream of iconic album covers.

“12-12-12” was a fundraising concert to aid the victims of Hurricane Sandy, it took place on December 12, 2012 at Madison Square Garden. Since their inception in 1965, Pink Floyd has put out 15 studio albums. But for many, the Pink Floyd experience went beyond studio albums and into their incredible and legendary live performances. Pink Floyd : The Early Years 1965-1972 features an extensive look at the band during their time with original front man Syd Barrett and the addition of David Gilmour in 1970.

Wish You Were Here, released in September 1975, was the follow up album to the globally successful The Dark Side Of The Moon and is cited by many fans, as well as band members Richard Wright and David Gilmour, as their favorite Pink Floyd album. This program tells the story of the making of this landmark release through new interviews with Roger Waters, David Gilmour and Nick Mason and archive interviews with the late Richard Wright. This documentary looks at the conception, design and live shows of The Wall performed by Pink Floyd in 1980 and 1981. It features in-depth 1980s era interviews with Roger Waters, David Gilmour, Richard Wright and Nick Mason and shows footage of The Wall performed at Earl's Court in 1980. It also features archival footage of the Syd Barrett era Pink Floyd and discusses how David Gilmour was brought into the band to initially augment their live shows when Syd became unreliable due to his drug problem and how Gilmour ultimately replaced him.

Set in Berlin, Germany less than a year after the destruction of the hated Berlin Wall, Waters was accompanied by disparate talents such as Cyndi Lauper, James Galway, Joni Mitchell and Albert Finney in the classic dark musical tale of a rock star's descent into madness and back.

Although Roger Waters declined to grant an interview in this programme, the post-Waters era is only briefly mentioned (during the last 2 minutes). The documentary not only features interviews with all three members of Pink Floyd at the time, but also includes interesting interviews with several people closely related to the band: Andrew King, Joe Boyd, Mike Leonard, Storm Thorgerson, Ron Geesin, Clare Torry , Douglas Adams, and others. Pink Floyd released a 19-minute "video EP" in 1983 for The Final Cut, essentially four music videos in a continuous sequence, directed by Willie Christie, who was Roger Waters' brother-in-law. Scottish actor Alex McAvoy, who played the teacher in the film version of The Wall, had a prominent role in the video EP. Waters appears (though all but his mouth is silhouetted) as a patient singing the lyrics to a psychologist on the grounds of the Fletcher Memorial Home.

Recorded on Pink Floyd's third American tour, this show introduced San Francisco to some of the newer material from the Ummagumma LPs, and a taste of things soon to come on the Atom Heart Mother LP, to be released later that year. This San Francisco audience is particularly quiet and attentive, a fact that seems to have facilitated a more intimate, unique and focused performance than other dates on this tour.

David Gilmour made his film debut with Pink Floyd by recording this series of promotional clips for Belgian TV. Four of the films were shot at RTB TV studios and the remainder in and around Parc de Laeken on the 18th & 19th of February. "Apple & Oranges" was broadcast on the RTB pop music program Vibrato on 27 February. The remaining films, including a photo montage set to "Bike", were shown consecutively as part of the Tienerklanken pop music show broadcast on BRT TV on 31 March. Kastival Open Air Festival 31 August 1968 Astronomy Domine Pink Floyd performed in the afternoon on the 1st day of this 3-day festival. The event was filmed by BRT TV and highlights were shown on the Tienerklanken pop music show broadcast on 8 October in a featured segment called "Kastival '68".
