In 1944, a group of high command officers plot an attempt against Hitler, and one of the leaders of the conspiracy, Stauffenberg, goes to a meeting with the Fuhrer in charge of exploding the place. The good thing about a low point is, you can not fall lower. At least the unemployed Maria Kowalke thinks after her break-up and when the "strange" father re-enters her life. Instead of teaching art education, Maria, who urgently needs work, has to step in as a music teacher in a secondary school. The lack of concentration and insubordination of their 10th graders quickly push them to their limits. It could always be worse! But Maria Kowalke is a teacher who advocates for her students, and her father Max Schellinger a pensioner who is far from the old iron.

Two trouble-causing brothers, who in the second generation after World War II Germany live, are in the center of this German made for TV movie. The movie makes a subject out of their everyday lives and the helpless attempt for them to build a normal life.

Dr. Emilia Seiler, a consultant at the Bavarian Ministry of Social Affairs and responsible for youth homes in Upper Bavaria, takes over the educational management of a youth home in Landsberg am Lech on an interim basis, as the manager in charge has been suspended. The home was founded in accordance with the "Home instead of detention" guidelines she had drawn up. She immediately clashes with the home's managing director, Mathias Hartmann, who is primarily interested in the home's balance sheets. But her greatest concern is for Martina, one of the home's residents, who had reported the former director for sexual abuse and is highly suicidal.
