"For her next movie, De eso no se habla, María Luisa Bemberg needs a dwarf". That was an ad on local media during preproduction of the movie that would become the last od the director. Among the peoplewho responded the ad was Alejandra Podestá, who ended up getting the leading role along Marcello Mastroianni. Through testimonies of varios friends, members of the crew and the words by Alejandra herself, who was brutally murdered in 2011, A Beautiful Dream tells us the story of the making of the film and the relationship between Bemberg and Podestá, which winds up being a tribute to both women.

The film tells how in 1970 a group of Argentine filmmakers - including Alberto Fischerman, Rafael Filippelli, Julio Ludueña, Miguel Bejo, Jorge Cedrón, Dody Scheuer and Luis Zanger - decided to make a short film each in one night. Nora and Javier have been hired to transport a shipment of cocaine in an ambulance. With the help of Wendy, Javier's transvestite brother, they rob a part of the shipment and escape from the police. Moulded by loneliness, indifference and a lack of communication, Nora, Javier and Wendy are three youths with no future who move on the outer rim of society and are helpless in the face of a corrupt power.
