A country boy becomes the head of a gang through the purchase of some lucky roses from an old lady. He and a singer at the gang's nightclub try to do a good deed for the old lady when her daughter comes to visit.

Developer Tsang Siu Chi and his agent have bought two of a group of four properties. Rival developer Boss Hung has secured the other two. Both aim to buy all four so they can knock them down and build hotels.

Before the Big Ban on prostitution, West Hong Kong is famous for its houses of pleasure. The most infamous of them all is Floral Ode House. Among its girls are Yen Hung, who becomes a widow regularly; aristocratic Chien Chien; Cherry Fun, who manages to lose the nickname; and a bevy of beauties. The madam who is on good terms with the police chief claims the best business this side of virtue. Then there comes from England Cheng Li-Peng, commissioned to ban prostitution. He is engaged to Lily, the police chief's daughter. But his parents had arranged a wife for him when he was an infant. They have lost trace of each other. Cheng Li-Peng starts his investigation, which lead him to Yen Hung's and Chien Chien's bedrooms. He is surprised to find himself in love with all three girls. And one of them turns out to be his missing fiancee!

Theater enthusiast Sun (Anthony Chan) is so passionate about drama that he sells his home to stage Romeo and Juliet. The plays turns out to be a complete failure however - and is the last straw for his wife (Anita Mui), who quietly leaves him. Marriage isn't working out too well for his friend Wa (Kenny Bee) either: Fed up with a husband who spends too much time at work and not enough at home, Wa's wife (Pat Ha) suddenly leaves. Things finally look up for Sun when he produces a popular play starring rich girl Hung (Cherie Chung) and the two begin dating. But it turns out Wa also has his eyes on Hung...

Derek Chiu Sung-kei directs this low-budget yarn about a mild-mannered grocery store clerk named Sardine (Dayo Wong Chi-wah) who lives a highly ordered life in an apartment filled with canned goods. His equilibrium is smashed when his landlady evicts him to make way for her daughter Anna (Irene Wan Pik-ha) to move in. When the middle-aged woman keels over from a bad combination of Panadol and liquor, Sardine believes that he is responsible for her death and tries to hide the body. Trouble ensues when Anna finds the corpse in Sardine's apartment while Sardine contends with a devious fellow employee who tries to get him canned from the supermarket.

Sammo and Kenny are lowly employees if a jewelry shop. Sammo too often is the target of abuse from the manageress. One day the two are sent to show the diamonds to a sheik. They are robbed on their way to the bank. One by one they are being accused to be in collusion with the robbers. That makes Sammo very angry. To get even, he plans to kidnap the manageress. Kenny somehow learns of the plot. Sammo gets the wrong woman, accidentally kidnapping Joel.

Mark is a boxer. When he was a child, he witnessed his father's domestic violence and abuse of his mother, which cast a deep shadow on his young heart.

The ups and downs of adolescence is sensitively portrayed in this story about three boys growing up in the midst of modern day strife.
