The film Kushti is the story of a small village in Northern India where wrestling is a popular sport and an important wrestling match is held every year. Disturbed by his father's death, Nirmal takes refuge in the fables and images his father had left him with, during their wanderings in the village. His fantasy world merges with reality when he meets a mermaid in the carnival which is visiting the village.
