M. R. Radha

Murugappa is a small time farm labourer living in a village with his widowed sister, Gangamma. He often questions the landlord's authority which results in frequent clashes with him and his family.

The story revolves around Selvam, an easygoing youngster who befriends many girls without the intention of marrying any of them.

Raghu befriends Ravi, a homeless man, and provides him with shelter and a job. However, when Ravi sees the photograph of the girl Raghu decides to marry, he asks him to stay away from her.

Dharmalingam (M.R. Radha), a rich landlord, is the father of two sons and a daughter. His eldest son has a love marriage with a poor teacher's daughter, Kamala,. Dharmalingam disowns them. The son dies and Kamala is left homeless, with a little child. Nathan (M.G.R.), a police officer, gives Kamala shelter in his house and decides to help her fight her case for property. But Kamala is murdered on the way to the court hearing. Fingers point at Dharmalingam and his son Shankar (M.N. Nambiar). Ironically, Shankar and Nathan's sister Uma are in love. Nathan comes to investigate the case and falls in love with Dharmalingam's daughter Sarasu. Now, Nathan is in a dilemma. Should he protect Shankar as he is his sister's sweetheart or should he drop the case as he loves Dharmalingam's daughter. Or is the real murderer someone else?

Gopal dearly loves his brother Raju, despite the latter's unkind acts and frauds. But fate seems to have something else in store for Gopal as he is soon accused of killing Raju

Mohanasundaram, a philanderer and drunkard, gets married to Chandra after he returns to India. Though he has a wife, he develops a relationship with Kantha, a prostitute.

Vaidyalingam Moopanar and his younger brother Sundaralingam live together along with their family. It is one big happy joint family. Vaidyalingam does not have any children while Sundaralingam has two sons. His older son's left hand is paralysed since childhood, while his younger son is studying in college in the city. Marudhu tosses his look-alike Pandiya into the sea as a goon promises to pay him a huge sum of money. However, they are in for a shock when Pandiya returns after being rescued by fishermen.

Kumaran, who is married to Kumudha, takes the blame for a murder he did not commit. Convinced of his innocence, his former lover sets out to unearth the truth, which involves Kumaran's brother-in-law.

Durai is happily married to Amudha, a rich woman. When Durai's close friend, Naganathan, dies in an accident and he decides to support his family, it causes a major rift between the couple.

When Prabha dies in a hospital while delivering her child, Susheela, a compassionate nurse, looks after her daughter, Indra. However, Karunamurthi creates problems for Susheela.
