Russell Goodall has had an interesting life shared between 2 countries New Zealand and Japan. His parents moved from New Zealand to Japan in 1960, later bringing Russell in 1966, when he was 3 months old. Russell was educated in Japan, in a language environment with English spoken at home and Japanese everywhere else. Russell Goodall is based in the greater Tokyo area, working among other things, as an translator of scripts for documentaries, interviewer at filming locations, narrator in both languages, occasional on-camera gigs, and anything else that he can enjoy doing using his skills.

This film is based on the true story of Vancouver Asahi, the Japanese-Canadian baseball team that was inducted into The Canadian Baseball Hall of Fame in 2003.
