Hanh is a dutiful wife and school teacher in a rural Vietnamese village who appears to enjoy a happy marriage. Childless, she insists her husband Phoung, the local school headmaster, take a second wife to bear him a baby. But in the small village, their secret is impossible to keep for long.

The two villagers are in a deep dispute which stops all villagers loving people from the other. Couples of two village died for love and they claimed war to each other lots of time. But a regular situation happened when French came, they went invading those remote villages and made people work for them.
