Some young squatters have occupied a building that the insurance company wants to demolish, but Adam Berg hesitates to call the police on them. A difficult policyholder wants more money for a claim than the company has paid out. A former schoolmate pesters Adam to allow him to take out insurance he is not actually entitled to. In a hospital's five-bed room—room number 13—there are five very different men with very different backgrounds: District Court Judge Winther, fashion designer Philip André, bank teller Madsen, the incorrigible burglar Herluf "Smukke Arne" Jensen, and legation secretary Konrad Konradsen. The legation secretary has done something foolish and fallen into the clutches of the blackmailer Helmer Gamtofte. He is in possession of some compromising photographs, which he keeps in a safe deposit box at the bank where Madsen works. The camaraderie that develops in room 13 becomes the driving force that prompts the district court judge to suggest that "Smukke Arne" help Konradsen break into the bank and steal the photos.

In this romantic drama, Niels (Jens Osterholm) is a petty thief and irresponsible lout who meets Lone (Yvonne Ingdal), a hospital lab assistant who is just the opposite of Niels. The two meet, fall in love, and must learn the old adage that opposites attract. The unenviable Niels and the model citizen Lone are helpless to fight their passionate chemistry when they are together.

A socially realistic film about a fifteen-year-old girl and her problems with love. Judith comes from a working-class home and does not want to continue her education. After having a relationship with a man twenty years her senior, she meets seventeen-year-old rock musician Willy, with whom she becomes pregnant. Willy does not really interest her, and she has an illegal abortion.

An amateur photographer has accidentally captured something special in a landscape photo from Sweden, something that an alert journalist could turn into a good story. Something that looks like a troll. The magazine, seeing an opportunity for a snappy report, funds an expedition to the supposed troll's lair, and in addition to the photographer and journalist, a skeptical folklorist joins the trip.

Composer John Berger is plagued by marital problems and struggling with a deadline for the music for an operetta. When he is visited by the muse of music, Polyhymnia, the melodies begin to flow, but she also causes a lot of complications in his earthly life. Like John's wife Irene, she falls in love with flight lieutenant Harry, while her father Zeus looks on disapprovingly and decides to intervene. Meanwhile, the premiere of the operetta is fast approaching.

Martin the vagabond is cheerful and musical like few others. Together with his new friend Anders, he sings his way to a meal and a place to sleep. During a performance, Anders meets the daughter of Bakkegaarden, whose mother has been a widow for a long time and may have a past with Martin. But not all the local farmers are equally fond of the two wandering charmers.

After a gruesome meeting with the tax authorities Alex Alexander takes a drive in the countryside to calm down. While driving, he accidentally runs into an elephant from a circus. When he is stopped by the police and tells them about the elephant they think he is crazy. He is committed to an asylum by the very authorities his taxes are funding. The doctor tries to convince him that the elephants were not really there, but he gets more help from manic fellow patient Knudsen who makes him realize that everybody in the world is crazy in some way.
