Joseph Koo Kar-Fai MBE GBS (Chinese: 顧嘉煇; 25 February 1931 – 3 January 2023) was a Hong Kong composer.

A young, unsuccessful singer, after committing suicide, is to be reincarnated, this time into a musical family. Her spirit must get to the hospital where her future mother is currently ready to give birth to her, so that she can enter the womb and be born. Unfortunately, she misses her appointed birth time, twice, due to the accidental intervention of a young man, Mr. Hong. At first she is angry and makes life hard for him, but eventually they fall in love, although she can't stay around long as she has one last chance to be born.

Li (Sam Hui) works at a sanitarium as a male nurse, and Ah Tim (Michael Hui) is a handy man. One day, a bearded old man is sent into the sanitarium with a large bag. Ah Tim manages to steal the bag, and finds antique fragments inside. When the old man dies, the pair learn from his daughter that there is a sunken vessel that is loaded with much more than they already have, so they decide to go after the sunken treasure.

Respected Hong Kong composer Joseph Koo, the creator of numerous classic Cantonese movie and TV drama theme songs, announced his retirement in 2015 and held the Dr. Koo Glorious Concert at Hong Kong Coliseum on December 8-19. Top singers such as Adam Cheng, Liza Wang, Hins Cheung, Frances Yip, Teresa Cheung, Kay Tse, Johnny Yip, Susanna Kwan and Elisa Chan participated in the concert to pay the highest tribute to the Godfather of Cantopop. Awarded a Gold Bauhinia Star for his considerable efforts in Hong Kong music industry, Joseph Koo presented The Gold Bauhinia Charity Concert at Hong Kong Coliseum on February 26 and 27, 2016, to express his gratitude to fans. Adam Cheng, Liza Wang, Susanna Kwan, Teresa Cheung, Sandra Lang, Teresa Carpio, William So, Lui Fong, Albert Au and C AllStar were invited to perform in the concert, and Michael Hui served as the host.

His classic pop and television theme songs represent a golden era of Hong Kong music and a shared memory of times past. In September 2012, the septuagenarian songwriter held a special concert series at the Hong Kong Coliseum. A stunning lineup of Hong Kong's finest veteran singers, including George Lam, Teresa Cheung, Elisa Chan, Sandra Lang, Frances Yip, Johnny Yip, Ivy Ling, Adam Cheng and Anthony Wong, as well as Kay Tse, Joyce Lee and Gallen Lo, came together to perform over forty of Koo's classic works.
