During an illegal immigrant smuggling operation on the Croatian-Bosnian border, war veteran and smuggler Mirko saves a seemingly nameless Chinese woman from drowning, bringing her into his home to help her recover. Over time, their relationship becomes closer and more personal and makes Mirko the target of Spider and Seki, two ruthless crime lords who run the human trafficking operations in the area.

Zagreb, Yugoslavia in 1890. A group of high-school students run away on an adventure that ends in scandal. The ringleader, Gusta, is expelled from school and sent to stay with his uncle in rural Turopolje.
