In 1956, a crusading newspaper reporter covers the Soviet invasion of Hungary. Initially critical of the communists, the feature later espouses the virtues of social changes implemented since the invasion.

The 16th century Kecskemét troubled by both the Kurutses and the Labancs would like a Bey from the Buda pasha to defend them in exchange for four beautiful girls, but only gets a caftan. He learns that Klari is his fellow villager, although she also works in Budapest. They arrange to meet the following weekend. Mishka is truly in love. Clarie is too, but she doesn't dare to admit to him that she has been unfaithful.

A woman learns that one of her doctor husband's patients used to be the cellmate of her first husband, who died in prison years before.

A sequel to "Yesterday". About the defeat of the Hungarian uprising of 1956. The action takes place in the barracks of the People's Army, in the War Ministry and in one of the largest factories in Budapest.

Lajos Tót, municipal firefighter at the Mátraszentanna. His house is clean, his garden bathed in sunshine. If his son weren't serving on the Russian front, Lajos Tót would only know there was a war on from the radio. When his son's commanding officer turns up one fine day to rest from the shocks of war at the Tót's, Lajos Tót and his family do everything to make the Major feel at home. Everything that is humanly possible. But what is humanly possible, in times of hardship at least, is a matter of opinion. During a mining accident, the police arrest the sole survivor on suspicion of murder, whose pickaxe is stained with the blood of one of the victims. The investigation reveals that the identity card found on the victim belongs to another person, that the collapse was deliberate and that the miner believed to be the victim has escaped.

From here he sets out to find a road roller for his small village, so that at last there will be a real road in the village. When Józsi, far from his beloved homeland, gets the engine, he sets off on an adventurous journey, roaring through Hungary towards his small reseda smelling village.

After the failure of the Kossuth's revolution of 1848, people suspected of supporting the revolution are sent to prison camps. Years later, partisans led by outlaw Sándor Rózsa still run rampant. Although the authorities do not know the identities of the partisans, they round up suspects and try to root them out by any means necessary.

Félix, a somewhat clod-hopping young man, finds himself in the Grand Hotel of Little Lagonda, barefooted and in pyjamas. He is soon followed by a hooded, fat and leggy gangster. This is all the more strange as the hotel is under quarantine with the pretext of a plague-epidemic, in order to make it a suitable ground for the negotiations of certain oil-companies.

Feri Noszty forges bills of exchange, which is an unforgivable sin in his circle. The family, to pay the debt and save the boy's honour, cash in their only fortune by marrying Vilma, Feri's sister, to a wealthy man. But this will not save Feri, who must resign his commission as an officer. He gets a job as a magistrate, but the income does not satisfy the young man's needs. All that is left is a good marriage and a huge dowry.
