Young Elisabeth comes to Västlinge to meet her old relative, the vicar and and his young daughter. She is going to spend the Christmas there in peace and quiet but on Christmas Eve, the grocer is brutally murdered with an axe. Police inspector Christer Wijk comes to the small village to find the murderer. He soon discovers the puzzle of evidence that makes almost everybody a suspect.

Jompa is unemployed - and not keen on getting a job. He still lives with his parents who are tired of his attitude about employment and regular hours. Jompa and his friends spend their time at nightclubs, cafés and doing petty crimes. While playing poker, Jompa becomes indebted to the criminal Kalle Lund. Of course, Jompa is unable to pay, but Kalle gives him a tip: an old fetcher has always a lot of money at home, and if Jompa could get his hands on the money, his troubles would disappear... Fabian Bom is a waiter at a hotel in a small town. But he dreams of doing something else - to dance and sing on a stage. He is madly in love with Matilda Roos, singer and diva. Fabian is too insensitive to notice that Annie, who works in the kitchen, is in love with him. Encouraged by Matilda, Fabian leaves the hotel and goes to Stockholm to become famous. But, as he soon learns, it is more difficult than he first thought.

Calle has a music store and there the two friends can go crazy among all the instruments.

Tailor Ågren in Ebberöd lives with his dominant wife Karolina and their two children. His everyday life would have been problem free if it weren't for his debts.

Urban girl falls for rugged forest ranger.

A Swedish cargo ship is in the winter of 1938 at the dock in Gdynia in Poland, waiting to depart with coal to Sweden. In a tavern in the port a Polish dockworkers tries to tell something to the Swedish sailors, but is rudely turned away by the tavern owner. Later in the evening the port worker is found dead. That same evening one of the Swedish sailors, meets a Jewish woman who has fled Nazi Germany.

The shy Anne-Marie wants to marry the mayor's son despite his parents' opposition.

Janne is an old man who is locked up in the church on New Year's Eve 1900 and has to play the organ to make someone to open the door.

In the Stockholm archipelago in the 1880s, Carlsson move out to an isolated farmstead to help the widow Flood with the farm. Carlsson has big plans for the island, including having paying guests in the summer but Gusten, the son of the widow, is negative. Plot by Mattias Thuresson.

Attending a lecture, he witnesses the attention paid to his lady-love by other faculty members, and falls to sleep. He dreams of the olden days and the knights, and the comely ladies of the court over whom they fought. His dream also gives all the cast the change to play a second role. Upon awakening, he proposes to Britta.

Operetta singer Adolf Berg will be called up for military duty just as he gets assigned a major role in an operetta. On the train he meets Ulla Wern and complications occur.

John is the skipper of the Albertina which is moored in Mariehamn. Nearby is luxury yacht Sea Star, where Ann-Mari boards. She begins to take an interest in John and makes sure to come aboard the Albertina to meet him.

It is rumored that there are ghosts at Smygeholm Castle.

A traveling theatre company comes to Lund and one of the smallest hotels in town. A female actress gets a key by mistake to a room where Sten Stensson Stéen lives.

The sailor Axel Nord is asked by his captain to do him a favor before his leave begins. Captain Rundholm wants him to give a letter to his niece in Stockholm. As Nord discovers, it isn't easy to find somebody you never have met, and it isn't made easier by the fact that some crooks believe that the letter contains evidence proving embezzlement in the shipping company.

Swedish comedy from 1939. Adolf Berglund is a reporter at the newspaper Morgonbladet and is sent on one action-packed mission after the other. But it's not always that he uses honest working methods to produce his scoops.

An unemployed engineer wins a competition, first prize is a vacation to a luxury resort in the mountains.

Baron Leijoncloo comes back to Sweden after many years in Argentina. On his way to his good friend Victor Sällberg's home, he loses his luggage. A con artist, Jönsson, finds it, and uses the baron's title to get invited to the manor of Mr. and Mrs. Blomqvist. By a coincidence, the baron also comes to the manor using a fake name. The well-known musician and composer Åke Kjellberg wakes up in a nice Stockholm apartment. He lives in Count Sparvhök's empty home until it gets rented out.

Adolf Jansson makes a living doing odd jobs until one day he gets a job working as a butler in the Pettersson residence. Adolf is instantly liked by everyone in the family except the daughter Susette, whom Adolf has fallen in love with.

When Count Sebastian Furucrona dies, his will states that if his long lost son, Rickard, doesn’t reappear within the next decade, his estate will be inherited by it’s temporary caretaker, Joachim Harden.
