A Taiwan movie about first love.

A young police officer "makes a mess" of a police operation, shoots a man in self-defense, and ends up in prison. There he learns that the world isn't black and white, but has many shades of gray, and makes new friends and enemies.

In 370 B.C, China was separated as seven nations and several other small tribes, one of these being the city state of Liang. The nation of Zhao is led by the terrifying Xiang Yangzhong who orders his troops to conquer the small city. Leaping to the defense of the people of Liang is 'Ge Li' from the Mo-Tsu tribe, their last hope from the terrors of Yangzhong's troops.

In 337 A.D., during the Eastern Jin Dynasty, parents dress a very pretty, very privileged girl like a boy so she may be educated in a local boarding school. There, she falls in love with a poor, but handsome and industrious young man.

An interesting cast of characters aim to get their hands on The Book of Tai, which currently resides in the grave of the first Ming Emperor. The lucky person who finds it is set to become the all-powerful Chinese ruler, which sends throngs of power-hungry citizens scrambling to get a hold of it. Director King Hu earned much fame in pioneering in a new aesthetics for martial arts films in the 1960s Chinese cinema. He made The Valiant Ones in 1975 to unfold a story of a patriotic military general and a princess who courageously fight against the invaders during the Ming dynasty. Now the remake stars Nicky Wu, who has just returned to the silver screen with the blockbuster A Battle of Wits alongside Andy Lau, and Huang Yi from the TV versions of Everlasting Regret and Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon. Roy Cheung from Johnnie To's Exiled also plays a crucial role in the film. With Yuen Wah from Kung Fu Hustle in the supporting cast and also serving as the action choreographer, this 2006 remake promises action sequences just as stunning as in King Hu's original. Unlike the many period epics released recently, the film puts greater emphasis on the historical aspect rather than the visual effects.

A couple of friends join the Taiwanese army to fight the Mainland Chinese. But life in the army isn't all that they dreamed off....

Man has been dumped by his ex-girlfriend Jenny. When he meets Jean he is finally able to forget Jenny, quoting a line about how they met on Valentine's Day and that it fell on the same day in both the Chinese and Western calendars. Their relationship builds wonderfully, until Jean's best friend Joyce comes back into Man's life. Joyce had fallen for Man earlier when he was a senior at university, and still harbors feelings for him. As Joyce starts to hint at how she feels, it begins to cause ripples in Man and Jean's relationship.
