As Nord discovers, it isn't easy to find somebody you never have met, and it isn't made easier by the fact that some crooks believe that the letter contains evidence proving embezzlement in the shipping company.

In 1803 the Swedish inventor John Ericsson is born. After a military career he went to England and became one of the first builders of locomotives. Despite large debts, he invents the propeller. In 1839 he crosses the Atlantic and builds ships for the US Navy. When the US civil war breaks out, the Federation needs a ship to match the Confederate 'Merrimac' and preventing the Confederation from exporting cotton to Europe. Ericsson builds the 'Monitor', a ship the Federation needs to win the war.

Spoiled upper class girl Marianne speeds through a small village and crashes her sports car into the house of the local vicar. She will have to stay for a few days while her car is repaired. Director Hugo Berner and Doctor Olof Mellgren have come out of the theater where they have just shown the classic play Pygmalion. Director Mellgren claims that, like Higgins in the play, he can turn a harbor worker into the gentleman.

However, Huntley is hit by a car, unconscious and without ID documents he ends up in a hospital, is reported missing, and it is widely suspected that he ran away with the money. Confused and desperate Huntley meets Haget and gets an invitation to the Club of the Living Dead.

Danilo invites Hanna Glawari and the two dance a pair of rollers from the operetta's second act. The photographer has waved quite quickly, so the movements are remarkably slow. At one point, both outside picture ends.
