Claire, a UNESCO interpreter, begins a romance with an oceanographer named Simon. Their relationship is challenged when Claire receives a breast cancer diagnosis. Faced with her illness and the potential for a mastectomy, she struggles with her self-image and decides to push Simon away, believing the diagnosis will change their future together.

In the moment when Belgrade industrialist Života Cvijović had dreams to marry off his son Milorad, Doctor of Philosophy, to a minister of transport's daughter, a telegram from Milorad's professor from Heidelberg arrives, saying that he wants to visit them. Bad luck is that Velimir, a poor student, was financed by Milorad, and studying under his name received a diploma.

A juvenile delinquent escapes the hall and responses to ad of the parents who lost their son in WWII. After being accepted with much love and care, he reconsiders his initial plan to rob the family.

The gifts and bequests department is particularly eccentric, including Lahrier, a fervent absentee and songwriter in his spare time.

Inspector Bérurier, having inherited a mansion three years earlier, comes to collect rent from the tenant when the latter is murdered under mysterious circumstances. Following "The Two of Us", Claude is now 21 years old. Content with his life, he has a girlfriend Tania and he aspires to become an actor. When he receives his draft notice, a friend convinces Claude he can get out of military service with his connections in Paris. When the connections fall through, Claude is sent for basic training outside Paris before being shipped off to Algeria. His stops in Morocco and Algeria are uneventful as far as military action goes. He returns home with few bad memories of his army life ...
