På spåret is a popular Swedish TV game show broadcast on SVT since September 5, 1987. The show, which is intended to be humorous yet educational, has remained one of the most popular TV shows in Sweden, attracting an average of 2,150,000 viewers during the 2007 season. The all-time record was set in March 1990, when 3.7 million people tuned in to see the show. This means that nearly every second Swede saw the game show. På spåret is an original format developed by Ingvar Oldsberg for SVT, and he hosted the show for many years. Author and tennis legend Björn Hellberg was promoted from contestant to permanent Oldsberg sidekick in 1995 after winning for four straight seasons. Famous gourmet, restaurant-owner, and former contestant Carl-Jan Grankvist sat in for Hellberg during the 2004 season. In 2009, after 21 years, Oldsberg left and Kristian Luuk took over as the host. Björn Hellberg too decided to leave and was replaced with Fredrik Lindström.

But after seeing how much the Greek trip is going to cost, he comes up with a great idea: Let's go on a camping trip instead. A lot is happens during this trip and after a while Rudolf discovers that the camping trip might not be as cheat as he thought.

The film is based on a series of immensely popular Swedish children's books, about the boy Bert, who is just hitting puberty and having the usual problems with it. But that's where the usual ends abruptly.

Max becomes extremely jealous, but luckily he soon gets a new friend: Josef, a talking turtle. The turtle is quite mean, but eventually he gains Max’s trust. The closer Max gets to the turtle, the worse the relationship with his parents seems to become. Soon, there is no other solution for Max than to run away from home.

Bert comes up with an idea—they will organize a gala where Bert's rock band, Heman Hunters, will play. At the same time, Klimpen threatens to perform as a stand-up comedian. Bert's new love is called Nadja Nilsson. Through Torleif, he finds out that she plays the violin, which Bert immediately starts practicing instead of soccer. But what will he become? A violin-playing phantom in love or a celebrated goal scorer?

During a school trip with his parallel class, Bert plans to make a move on Paulina. At the same time, the bus gets stuck in the middle of the forest. Åke gets off to a strong start by blowing up the chemistry lab, and Bert falls in love with Ida. But Ida is with a guy called "The Gravedigger." For some reason, he wants to skin Bert alive.
