Detective Ukyo Sugishita confronts crime on the basis of his own convictions. He has a partner that works for him in the Special Task Unit. For the first 7 seasons, Ukyo’s first partner is Kaoru Kameyama. He is a good-natured, hot-tempered, straightforward and somewhat scattered detective. Beginning in Season 8, Takeru Kanbe replaces Kameyama. Contrary to his predecessor, Takeru is a lanky, cool, conceited and confident detective. From Season 11 to Season 13, Ukyo’s partner is a young detective Toru Kai. Toru is a son of Deputy Director-General of The National Police Agency. But he became a detective by his own effort. And starting with Season 14, Ukyo’s current partner is Wataru Kaburagi, an elite bureaucrat who came to the Metropolitan Police Department on temporary assignment. As the first partner without any career of a police officer, he will face challenging cases together with Ukyo.

Centered around typical Japanese food, a solitary salesman travelling through the country for business purposes, eats at its various establishments and experiences the various delicacies of Japanese cuisine.

Inspired by American TV movies like "Hitchcock Theater" and "The Twilight Zone," the show features multiple works with Tamori as the storyteller and actors as the main characters. While horror and supernatural themes are predominant, a variety of genres like comedy and drama are also produced. Most episodes, however, have a bad ending.

He obsesses over the weight of every minute and second of time because of some incident.

58-year-old Gentaro Ito lives with his wife Chizuru in a house in Tokyo. Each of their three daughters should have left home and lived well. However, their eldest daughter, 28-year-old Yuka, is single and doing well at work but has a propensity for affairs. Their 25-year-old second daughter, Rika, wedded a highly educated man and lives in Osaka but the couple are on the brink of divorce. Their youngest daughter, 22-year-old Mika, is also single, and the moment she gets to start living on her own, she half-cohabits with a man who does not seem like he will be a successful manga artist. Gentaro worries endlessly about his daughters who are poor judges of character. Completely ignoring their tastes, this stubborn, old-fashioned father suddenly brings a man whom he likes to the house in the middle of the night and introduces him to his daughters. In fact, this man is Yuka's ex-boyfriend. What will the family be like the next day!?

Fujio and Tsukasa were students from Oya High School, but Fujio had to move to a school in the countryside where his grandfather lives to take care of him. Fubuki is a young female teacher in a girl's college. Being quite new, she's inexperienced in many ways, eg. advising students on love problems. However, she gets to know three male teachers from a nearby boy's college one day, and these three people are playing as crazily as their students. They go after girls, ... and behave very differently from what a teacher should behave. Though as such, they're in fact good teachers, who always stand by their students, and help them out in every way they can. This gradually changes Fubuki's poor impression of them and touches her heart.

Fujio Hanaoka, Seiji Kirihara, Shinya Oochi, Masaya Oochi, Madoka Ishii and Arata Maekawa are friends and they grew up together. They gather together to celebrate Seiji's birthday. Travel and history reporter Asami Mitsuhiko visits Kamakura for an interview, where he meets Tanno Nao, the daughter of the head of the Tansho school of flower arrangement. Mitsuhiko is drawn to Nao's lively expression as she enjoys surfing. Meanwhile, the head of the Tansho school of flower arrangement, which has been in existence for over 250 years, has announced to Nao's father and son-in-law Hiroyuki that he will hold a New Year's succession ceremony for the next Iemoto at the first ikebana ceremony. Meanwhile, Nao invites Mitsuhiko to take a stroll through the streets of Kamakura, and he is taken to a café by the sea, where he and the master, Makibara, learn of Nao's struggles with her birthplace and future. They also witness an encounter between Hiroyuki and Fuyue, the owner of an inn. Nao goes to Fuyue's place to find out the truth, but what awaits Nao is Fuyue's changed appearance.
