SMAP×SMAP was an ongoing weekly Japanese variety show on Kansai TV and Fuji TV starring the members of SMAP. The show began on April 15, 1996 and it aired from 22:00 to 22:54 every Monday. Each episode begins a variety of skits, comedic performances, and/or games.  These are followed by Bistro SMAP, in which the SMAP members compete against each other to impress celebrity judges with their gourmet cooking.  Last is a musical performance by SMAP which may include celebrity guests, as well.

The 82nd NHK Asadora is Gegege no Nyobo. The story is based on a 2008 autobiography by Mura Nunoe, the wife of Gegege no Kitaro mangaka Mizuki Shigeru. The story revolves around the life of the married couple, told from the perspective of Mura. --Tokyograph

After failing her college entrance exams, she went to live in Tome City with an acquaintance of her grandfather's. Saka no Ue no Kumo is an NHK 21st Century special drama which was aired over three years starting from November 29, 2009. The series runs 13 episodes at 90 minutes each. The first series, with 5 episodes, was broadcast in 2009, while series two and three, each with 4 episodes, were broadcast in late 2010 and 2011. While most episodes were shot in Japan, one of the episodes in series two was shot in Latvia. The TV series is based on the novel Saka no ue no kumo by Ryōtarō Shiba and adopted by Hisashi Nozawa. The theme song of the drama series is titled "Stand Alone". It was composed by Joe Hisaishi, written by Kundo Koyama and performed by British soprano singer Sarah Brightman.

The 36th NHK Taiga Drama is Mori Motonari. This series chronicles the life of Mori Motonari, a warlord of the early 1500s who stood at the vanguard of the Warring States era. All Japanese school textbooks contain the Mitsuya no kyokun, Mori's famous lesson to his three sons that teaches that while one arrow is easily broken, three arrows together cannot be broken. In 1997, 500 years after his birth, NHK dramatizes Motonari's rise from a chief of the region of Aki (now Hiroshima) to a daimyo who rules over ten provinces of the Chugoku region. Motonari was 64 years old and already the patriarch of a powerful dynasty about the time Oda Nobunaga and Takeda Shingen appeared on the scene. And even after his death, the Mori family figured prominently in Japanese history. His grandson Terumoto became a loyal Toyotomi vassal. Defeated at the Battle of Sekigahara, Ieyasu confiscated most of his lands, leaving him only with Suwo and Nagato, later known as Choshu. But 260 years later, the Mori got their ultimate revenge, leading the imperial forces against the Tokugawa in the Meiji Restoration.

The young daughter of Keizo Tsujiguchi, a respected physician who runs his own hospital, is found murdered. Hanazawa Taro is a policeman with with a body weight of 110 kg and works in a police box in the beautiful city of Kyoto. He has a really sharp perception, which allows him to smoothly deal with the various problems of the local residents as well as the tourists.

Travel and history reporter Asami Mitsuhiko visits Kamakura for an interview, where he meets Tanno Nao, the daughter of the head of the Tansho school of flower arrangement. Mitsuhiko is drawn to Nao's lively expression as she enjoys surfing. Meanwhile, the head of the Tansho school of flower arrangement, which has been in existence for over 250 years, has announced to Nao's father and son-in-law Hiroyuki that he will hold a New Year's succession ceremony for the next Iemoto at the first ikebana ceremony. Meanwhile, Nao invites Mitsuhiko to take a stroll through the streets of Kamakura, and he is taken to a café by the sea, where he and the master, Makibara, learn of Nao's struggles with her birthplace and future. They also witness an encounter between Hiroyuki and Fuyue, the owner of an inn. Nao goes to Fuyue's place to find out the truth, but what awaits Nao is Fuyue's changed appearance.

Noriko Shimura is on duty for the first time at Gyoda Hospital. The duty doctor is Yosuke Naoe. After 9PM Jiro Toda, a childhood friend of Noriko's, is brought in with a cut to his forehead from a fight. But Naoe has gone out for a drink, and can't be found.
