In Rome, Armando confesses to Father Guido Bellini that he is being hunted by a criminal organization led by a young man with paranormal powers. Some time later, Guido discovers that Armando has died and, feeling guilty for not having tried to prevent the man's murder, decides to leave the priesthood and return to Brazil. In the city of São Paulo, Guido dedicates himself to the study of paranormal phenomena in order to combat the organization led by César Zapata and his son Fred, the powerful young man to whom Armando referred. To confront the Zapatas, Guido relies on the help of Alef, also a paranormal young man who does not yet have full control of his powers. Alongside his fight against the criminal organization, Guido has a romance with Débora, Alef's mother. His main opponent, César, also likes Débora and does everything to separate her from Guido. The story begins with the arrival of millionaire Antônio Carlos Volpone in Brazil. After living in Cairo for 18 years, he returns to his homeland for two reasons: first, to clarify the murder of his father-in-law, Dr. Telles, of which he was accused; second, to get closer to his ex-wife Estela, now married to Orlando Aranha. The millionaire also attracts media attention, and reporter Amélia Bicudo decides to investigate his life. To mislead his enemies and move freely, Volpone uses numerous disguises: the executive Anabela Freire, the doctor Nilo Peixe, the industrialist Augusto Melo Sampaio, and the driver André Silva. With the help of his loyal secretary and friend, Mosca, he confronts his main rival, Orlando Aranha, and Renata, Orlando's sister, who holds secrets about the murder of Estela's father.

Os Ossos do Barão is a Brazilian telenovela produced by SBT and originally broadcast from April 28 to September 8, 1997. It is an adaptation of Jorge Andrade's 1963 play of the same name, adapted for television by Walter George Durst, with collaboration from Duca Rachid, Mário Teixeira, and Marcos Lazarini.
