On a trip through the Salzkammergut, a couple singing pop songs tell the story of another duo and their difficult path to marriage: he was into light entertainment, while she was into serious art.

Pop star Peggy March visits the cosmopolitan city within its western districts and talks about her life in the USA and Germany in equal measure, while the greatest hits of her career come to life within the city!

Civil servant Peter Werner lives separated from his wife, fashion photographer Grit. Their twins also live separated from each other; Gaby grows up with their father in Munich; Ulli lives with their mother in London.

Prospective hotel owner Carlos is having problems with the completion of his hotel on the Adriatic. He quickly asks his niece Vivi in Germany to cancel the bookings he has made so far. Unfortunately, his telegram reaches her too late and a motley group of guests arrives. They promptly pitch tents in the garden of the half-finished building.
