Timothy, one of Chicago's well-known improvisers, creates Improvapalooza and Mary Beth hopes to help him grow the festival to international heights. Teams are given a suggestion of 'Chicago' at the beginning of the day and a film crew follows two main teams as they fumble to create a 20-minute show for audiences that night.

A young girl loses her mother and is left to find her biological father with the help of a news crew that takes her under their wing. As the trio travels Middle America in search of the girl's father named John Smith they meet discover that what you looking for may be unattainable but what you need is right in front of you.
