Director Arifin chooses a “poetic” style of telling the story so that the storyline follows the internal conflicts of the characters. The poetry is also characterized by slick photography.

Oni is an orphan who is born blind. She is adopted by a cart puller. Despite of his blindness, Oni can cure diseases. So when her adopting parent dies, someone else takes care of her. But ever since her village is pillaged Oni lives on as a wanderer.

All the problems are finally resolved when David and Sarah are married.

The appearance of the comedy Surya Group was designed as an added attraction, though it becomes more of a distraction.

Medical student Rendra return to his hometown to take care of his father’s inheritance and discovers that the villagers are disturbed by wandering ghosts. The police investigate and uncover that the ghosts are humans in disguise... except for one “kuntilanak” (a traditional female ghost), a vengeful spirit who had been burned to death in an empty house.

Sinta then approaches Andi, a handsome man employed by the tycoon, to find out about his boss. The man promises to tell Sinta on one condition, that she has to take him around the fair. Samiaji, Mansur’s business competitor, who has a crush on Sinta, is jealous when he finds out about it. Till the end of the story, nobody knows that Andi takes Sinta home after nights of going around the Jakarta Fair.

Barda the Blind (Ratno Timoer) while at Borobudur, is accused of being the murderer of Bimo Adirekso (Wahid Chan). The children who were killed, Subala (Adang Mansyur) and Subali (Adji Agus), did not care about people's accusations. They fight over their parents' inheritance until a big fight breaks out, which is useless, because the will and the treasure map are in the hands of Sekarningsih (Nuke Maya Saphira), also Ben's daughter, and her boyfriend, Bambang Permadi (Rachmat Kartolo). Selendang Mayang (Rita Zahara) stole the treasure, then it was stolen by another person, all the way to Dieng. Here the battle takes place. This film is presented in a mystery style.

After being pregnant for the third time, Shinta has to undergo another operation. After this, Shinta becomes frigid. Norman, her husband, then finds himself a girlfriend, Yulia, a colleague. His luck doesn’t change much until he starts working as a personal driver. But he then realises that he is working for the boss of a drug syndicate. As he refuses his boss’s order to sleep with Mira, he is locked up. Luckily his friend, who brought him into the syndicate, helps him to escape. Meanwhile, Rose takes her child to look for him to Jakarta. She wanders aimlessly and leaves her child in an orphanage. Fortunately, she is found by a group of street musicians who stumble upon her when she is about to be raped. Rose joins the group because she has a singing ability. Then the leader of The Brims Band discovers her and she becomes an even more popular singer.

Driven by shame and the fear of losing her prospective husband, Marlia conceals her past. She entrusts her daughter, Jamila—whose father remains unknown—to the care of Mak Zaenab, a woman with whom her connection is also unclear. Johan, a man twice widowed due to his childlessness, eventually marries Marlia under pressure from his mother. After seven childless years, Johan marries again at his mother's insistence. Reo (Taka Zahara) is a human raised by a wolf who is trained by Barda (Ratno Timoer), the Blind from the Ghost Cave. He lost his father, mother and younger siblings, who were held captive by an evil character who was also greedy in a place called the Green Hell. The journey to find his parents and younger sibling had to go through many obstacles and naturally also fights.

Wamena is a businessman and widower who has a daughter, Narita. His secretary, Yuni, tries to marry Wamena and also tries to match Narita to Toni, who is actually Yuni’s boyfriend. Together, they plan to seize Wamena’s wealth. Alas, Narita already has a boyfriend, Arman, a poor young man. Yuni tries to manipulate the relationship by sending a fake wedding invitation. This causes Wamena a heart attack, which kills him. Narita is also against her father’s relationship with Yuni, so she storms out and leaves. Then Arman marries Narita and becomes the director of the company. Yuni and Toni resign from the company. Then Yuni tries to trick Arman by sending a pretty woman to seduce him and then takes a photo of them together. With this photo, she manages to trap Arman.

In a forest in Mount Bromo, Badra, the Blind Fighter, finds a woman on a stretcher, attacked by a group of villains. Badra quickly acts. Upon her death, the woman asks Badra to take care of the children. So he finds the father of the children. On the way, he is ambushed by his arch enemy and is hurt. The king helps him to recover, then he meets again with his arch enemy.

Three bachelors establish a service center for women, initially intended for sex, but instead it becomes a multi-purpose service agency. There is a grandmother who asks them to read comic books to her; there is also a woman who wants them to wash her carpets. But one of them always gets the most enjoyable part, which is the sex service for lonely women, or even to torture them by request. He also gets a girlfriend, who lives in Singapore, and accepts his profession.

Barda Mandrawata (Ratno Timoer), also known as The Blind Man From the Ghost Cave, is in the Sarpala area which is being hit by a disaster created by the vile magician Tarub. After finishing his business, Barda intends to leave but is given Narisa, a child who is to be returned to his biological parent, Labone, the leader of Sarpala who has fallen in love with Barda despite being betrothed to Latongga (Torro Margens). Meanwhile, Latongga himself is being chased by Radina (Mila Karmila), a female child from the ascetic Sakti. Narisa is wanted by many warriors from various circles, including Tarub, and once he escapes from Barda's hands, Barda is forced to look for him.

Two sisters, Hanifah and Latifah/Ipah have different attitudes toward life in Jakarta. While Hanifah is content working as a teacher, Ipah, who works as a shopkeeper, is obsessed with living a high life. She leaves her boyfriend, Adi, feeling that her sister’s way of thinking is too conservative, and changes her name to Eva. Eva then becomes a runway model and gets famous. She has an affair with an older man named Abas, gets pregnant, has an abortion and becomes a high class prostitute. Meanwhile, her ex-boyfriend, Adi, has an affair with Lily, Abas’ wife. One day, she meets again with Adi who is looking for a prostitute for his friend. Offended, Eva stabs Adi. She is then sentenced to 18 years in prison. Her father and her sister, Hanifah, come to the court and give her a mukena (a kind of hijab used by female Muslims for praying) before she goes to prison.

Mysterious blind man Mata Malikat arrives in a small village and disrupts the peace, starting with killing one of the village's most respected fighters. The fighter's son then tries to avenge his death.

Irma, who thinks Bobby is shy, ignores Bobby's feelings for Irma. Until Irma realizes Bobby's feelings and gets involved so much that her school falls apart.

Then Budiman, comforts her and also helps her take care of her son, Boy. Budiman has been attracted to Anna for a long time but when their love starts to bloom, Anna’s chronic disease strikes back. On her deathbed, she asks Budiman to look after Boy.

Wisnu and Popo Hartopo are two motocross riders who are famous and respected. One day, Wisnu meets a sweet girl, Yanti and they fall in love. Margens, also loves Yanti, and he tries to ruin Wisnu’s career to win Yanti. During a practice, Margens and his friends start to make trouble and beat up the leader of Wisnu’s group, Hendrik. Margens then tries to rape Yanti and even causes harm to Wisnu during a race. Yanti stays faithful and waits for Wisnu’s recovery from his injuries. In the end, Margens and his friends have to pay for their evil deeds.

Rainang tries to terrorize a corrupt village leader, Ciming, so that he would resign. But Marsan accidentally kills Ciming. As team leader, Rainang is willing to take responsibility (punishment by exile) while Marsan is appointed as the new village leader and Rausin (Rainang’s son) is sent to the Islamic boarding school. When Rausin returns to Kemayoran, the village leader, Marsan, is now a corrupt man. The Dutch reprimand him as the villagers no longer want to sell rice to them. The village leader then assigns Beureum, an assassin, to get rid of Rausin. But Toha and Cicih, the female warrior, support him. Rainang, who is thought to have passed away, appears and intervenes, and in the end, kills Marsan.

Norman’s house is robbed but one of the robbers, Bing, is captured when his car hits a building. Bing is the husband of Hayati, Norman’s ex-fiancee. The leader of the gang, Wikarta, kidnaps Bing’s wife and children to ensure that Bing will not confess to the police. Wikarta, is actually in love with Hayati, and takes the opportunity to win her heart. The victim of the robbery, Norman, decides to take matters into his own hands, and gangs up with Godfried, a reformed criminal. The police set their deadline: two times 24 hours. When they finally catch the crooks, it is proven that Bing was forced to join the robbers because he lost too much in gambling.

Karsono, a foreign spy, sends Dachlan to Hong Kong for a secret mission, so that he can rape Dachlan's wife, who later dies. Dachlan himself is killed in Hong Kong. Then there is Muchtar, who escapes from Hong Kong to return to Indonesia, hoping to have his sick wife cured. But he finds out that his wife has been murdered so he works with the police to solve this. One of Karsono's men who defects, reveals his secrets but before he can be captured, Karsono is murdered by his men.
