When a significant quantity of valuable gemstones is to be transported to South America by plane, those responsible are naturally extremely nervous. Everything must be perfectly planned, every possible risk averted.

Prince Klemens von Metternich orders Friedrich Gentz, one of his aides, to keep the Duke of Reichstadt---Napoleon Francois Joseph Charles---son of Napoleon and heir to the French throne, from thinking about French politics. Gentz enlists the help of ballerina Fanny Elsser, all the rage in several European capitals, to keep the Duke distracted.

Ludwig Gruber, the director of a spa café, is a good man. Now and again, he makes little adventure-trips to Berlin to find business for his company. Since they both insist on climbing into bed with the lights out, it isn’t until the next morning that they notice they’ve been in the same bed the whole night. In the ensuing chaos, Grube loses his wedding ring, which is later sent to the address of Lotte’s mother, who now insists repeatedly, that he marry her daughter.

A diligent office worker and a cheeky sales representative are tasked by their boss with reserving a first-class hotel room with a bathroom for a visiting Hamburg exporter and his wife. A misunderstanding leads to non-stop confusion, because the office worker is spending his first wedding anniversary with his wife in the rented hotel room.

That she's the mother of a grown up girl is something she desperately wants to hide from Werner (no, honey, I swear: you don't look a day over 17 ... uh huh). So, to cover her little horny tracks, she tells Werner that Eva is her cousin. The plan backfires (ha ha!), when Werner falls for the "cousin". When Werner finally discovers the truth, a conflict develops (duhh!), which can only be solved by Paula finding a man her own age (thank you).

The famous tightrope artist Truxa is drinking at the Artisan bar in New York. He meets a young man, Husen, and gives him his stage name Truxa. He is to take the real Truxa's place at a circus show in Wintergarten, Berlin.

Séraphine and her mother arrive in Paris to visit the 1867 World Exhibition. In an overcrowded city they must be accommodated in separate hotels. During the night the mother, who wasn't feeling very well, gets suddenly worse. When next morning Séraphine goes to meet her every trace of her presence has disappeared and everybody denies having ever met her. The bewildered young woman must find someone who believes her. Charming Tom is pursuing fine Olivia both cheerfully and stubbornly. At first, she rejects him brutally; but then she finds pleasure in this intrusive guy, who’s following her everywhere. Now she thinks Tom is the infamous jewel thief, who’s been terrorizing the neighborhood.

A small banking family is put to the test: Brigitte, the wife of the banker Sparrenberg, has a secret: she was once the lover of the fraudster Baron Gaffris, who once used her to get close to well-off businessmen. Now Gaffris is trying to use her to trick her husband. After a fight between Brigitte and Gaffris, Brigitte’s daughter Ina seeks out the baron in an attempt to help her mother. Afterwards, the baron’s suddenly found dead on the floor. Brigitte takes all the blame, goes to the cops and admits to having stabbed Gaffris.

Alexander and Poldi, the “Sunday Children”, work as a headwaiter and servant in the Palasthotel in a southern German spa resort. Like many people, they dream of one day being rich. But when their lottery ticket actually wins, their friendship is destroyed, when it turns out, that Poldi stopped buying tickets to save money. Both then fall in love with beautiful Steffi, whose aunt won’t hear of anything other than a marriage to a rich man. Steffi gives her heart to poor Alex, while Poldi actually receives a fortune. When a crook ends up taking his money away, Alex helps Poldi to convict the fraudster and get his money back.

But the young refugee girl Henny has also fallen in love with the handsome engineer.

The daughter of a reclusive couple in the St. Moritz mountains tends to her brother, disabled from the Great War, though a handsome young architect who has just arrived waits for her attentions.

A wealthy uncle from America has named the widowed shoemaker Emil Rogge as his sole heir and bequeathed him a chest containing his entire fortune. However, the will includes a clause stipulating that the chest may only be opened after a three-month period, and Rogge will only inherit the fortune if he fulfills two conditions within that time: he must abstain from alcohol at work, and he must find and marry a wife. A con man then tries to seduce Rogge and arrange for his accomplice, the sophisticated Olga, to marry him. But in the end, Rogge not only finds the right woman but also experiences a major surprise.

French teacher Annette Müller has two ardent admirers who are constantly urging her to marry: diplomat Klaus and engineer Theo. But she can't make up her mind. Now Redwitz slowly realizes what he feels for Bettina, and his sons try everything to bring the father and the educator together.

When Count Alversheim courts Gabriele with unbridled energy, a disappointed Holk turns to Ulrike. When Gabriele finally comes to her senses, it is too late: she’s lost Holk to her sister.
