Xaver Bimshofer is the richest peasant in the village; and therefore, his only daughter Lenerl should marry a guy, who is diligent enough to keep the exemplary farm running. But Bimshofer doesn’t know, that Lenerl has long been a couple with the servant Sepp. So he suspects that every young man in the village wants to conquer his poor, innocent daughter. So that Lenerl really resists all these attempts, he gets a stone statue from Thomas Kammerlehner’s barn, “The Chaste Kunigunde”, which is supposed to protect the girl’s chastity and to protect her from sin by its positive energy.

Willi and Maria Kluge married in the final days of World War II. Maria is deported to a camp in Siberia and does not return home until eight years later. After 50 years of service, the district usher Johann Peter Neusigl is supposed to get awarded a Royal-Bavarian medal of merit. Since government director Steinbeißl has announced that he wants to witness the awarding ceremony in person, district magistrate Kranzeder decided to splash out. He organises, with his wife Amalie, a banquet in their parlour, although both of them rather begrudge Neusigl the award. But after all, it is necessary to cut a good figure for the dignitaries. As the government director arrives, after a few incidents during his journey, belated, the event, however, has already degenerated into a boozy carousal which culminates in a scuffle.

The rich and fun-loving brewery owner Xaver Bogenrieder has died. After the funeral, the mourners come to the pub for the funeral feast. The first trouble is already inevitable: It's all about the succession to the Unterbräu and which of the dignitaries will court the beautiful widow. Farmer Grillhofer is slowly getting old and sickly. His housekeeper Rosl takes care of him, while foreman Wastl takes care of the farm. Grillhofer's brother-in-law Dusterer knows that twenty-five years ago the farmer got involved with his maid, Riesler Magdalen, who then disappeared. He uses this knowledge to get Grillhofer to hand over his estate to him and his family.

Mathias Ferner commits perjury and is thus able to secure the farm of his stepbrother Jakob as soon as he dies. In doing so, he deprives Paula Roth and the children of their inheritance. However, there is a letter incriminating Mathias Ferner. Years later, Paula Roth gets her hands on this letter.

The unscrupulous dealer Haslinger has paid off a debt note worth 1000 Mark from the peasant Kreithofer and now wants the man’s farm in return for the debt settlement. Then, suddenly, a rumor pops up that Grandfather Kreithofer is a rich man, who wants to leave his entire estate to his grandchild Lois. Grandpa started the rumor to help his grandson out of the mess, who, as luck would (not) have it, is also in love with Haslinger’s daughter, Ev. But no sooner does Haslinger hear of this rumor, that he wants the old man to move in with him, leave the debt to him and give permission for the kids to marry.
