In a ruined village, Chamsae endures a precarious life while caring for his ailing mother, Geumja. When his cherished MP3 player breaks, his estranged sister Heeyeon returns with her friend Eunyeong. Despite her failing health, Geumja goes out to dance every day. After her final dance, Geumja passes away, and Chamsae finally leaves the village behind.

It's a scorching summer. The girl and the boy cannot attend the festivities on the eve of the school festival. Then Kali says to the wandering children: “You know, where the festivities are taking place, as far as the shadow of the sacred tree reaches, young spirits are gathered under it.”

In the summer of 2009, the first Jisan Valley Rock Festival was held, and Blur reunited and Oasis disbanded. For Su-min, a middle school student living in the countryside, all this seems far away. And that summer, Suzuki disappeared.
