The second part of Soviet filmmaker Sergei Bondarchuk's epic biography of John Reed. It is October 1917 and the American journalist has found himself and his wife, Louise Bryant, in Petrograd on the eve of the Bolshevik revolution.

Chief Inspector Karl Jäger is preparing for the birth of his grandchild, while his colleague Jasmin Stein is thrown into a passionate love affair. But Lola Kraft is also back after her maternity leave when the body of a car dealer is found in a villa. The safe is open, but apparently no money was stolen.
