The chamberlain Carl Johan Stjärna is a poor aristocrat who has to resort to borrowing money from his manservant Frans to afford champagne and restaurant visits. Frans has told his fiance Irene that he is an aristocrat which leads to some complications, not least because Irene has told Frans she is a rich land owner's daughter, although she is in a housemaid.

Bolle gets tired of working at the cigar factory and because of his desire for freedom he takes to the road. He and the other hobos have only one problem and that is the mounted policemen chasing vagrants.

Inga and her father, the violin maker Lars, are big music enthusiasts. One day they meet the violinist Jan-Erik.

Liv and Kåre both come from broken families bursting with frustration and aggression's. Having found each other they now feel supported and loved.

1813. The Swedish army is fighting in the War of the Sixth Coalition. The popular general Von Döbeln is arrested for sending the army against the French in breach of orders by the crown prince. At the court martial he is sentenced to death but is pardoned by the king and sent to prison instead. A group of conspirators are planning to set him free and make him their leader in a coup d'etat.

A number of complicated relationships develop between a circus ringmaster, his estranged wife and his lover.

The 1880s. Abandoned by his middle class parents in Stockholm, Johannes grows up in the countryside with a cobbler who regularly beats him up. Also at school he has to face regular beatings because of his Stockholm background, the only one who cares for him is a girl, Lotta, who promises to marry him one day. "Rolling Sea" - After a longer stay at the hospital, the young Martin comes to Gothenburg and notice that his fiancee Sonja has met another man.

Edit Carlson is having trouble courting car mechanic Helge Malm, whose motto is "me mary? - never!", and when he reveals that he's about to receive an inheritance, Edit's sister Tora sets her sight on him as well.

The young high school graduate Göran and the 17-year-old Kerstin get to know each other on the estate of Göran's uncle Persson and fall in love. But their relationship is watched suspiciously by the jammed adult world. While Persson has an understanding of the youth, Kerstin's parents and the pastor of the village rant against the alleged immorality of the young people. Despite all the malice, Göran and Kerstin decide for their love. But this love should last only one summer.

An unemployed engineer wins a competition, first prize is a vacation to a luxury resort in the mountains.

Jan-Erik Widgren meets the lonely Bertha Olsson, a woman struggling with alcoholism. Though Bertha is already linked to Caligula, Jan-Erik's heartless teacher, she begins a relationship with the boy anyway. When Caligula learns that Jan-Erik is having an affair with Bertha, he begins to torture his student psychologically. He reserves his cruelest behavior for Bertha, however, which results in a tragic turn of events.

The actor Philip has an accident on the way to his own wedding and the shock makes him lose his voice.

Conny Persson is an up-and-coming boxer. He wins the Junior Championships and is able to write a contract with boxing manager Andy Ekström. He falls in love with Margit. She doesn't like that he is boxing, but together they open a flower shop. When Conny still won't give up boxing, Margit tells him that he has to chose between her and the boxing.

Wholesaler Pettersson ends up in the military after being mixed up with a soldier on the run, who has stolen his identity.

Erik, a poor inventor meets the clerk Lillemor and fall in love. Erik's becomes invention is ready for the market. He contacts a director who might be interested. Erik is attracted almost immediately by the director's wife.

A horse wanders from town to the countryside. Here lives Sten Stensson Steen, a bachelor at law and philosophy. He is writing a social psychological report on the youth problem.
