As she watched Remedios the Beauty waving goodbye in the midst of flapping sheets that rose up with her and they were lost forever with her in the upper atmosphere, where not even the highest flying birds of memory could reach her.

The story is about a hunter who, in his quest to find his dog, encounters a mountaineer who has lost his way. The mountaineer seeks refuge at the hunter's house for the night and slowly comes to realize that not all is as it appears.
