This romantic drama follows two policemen whose job is to investigate the lives of foreigners who have applied for Swiss citizenship. Among the applicants they must screen are a French psychiatrist and his wife, and a ballet dancer. The married couple are quickly accepted, but the dancer's life offers some objections. The head of a fashion school spots a girl on television with exactly the angelic face he needs for one of his pictures. He has no idea that she's his student.

With rumbling stomachs and no engagement, musicians Pit, Max, Bill, Gus, Eddi, and Giorgio are on their way to visit their Uncle Hermann, who runs a sports school on Lake Wörthersee. Along the way, they meet the charming teenagers Susi, Evi, Sieglinde, Inez, and Francis, who are on their way to a girls' boarding school. A strict boarding school where male visits are, of course, frowned upon. So the musicians dress up in drag and visit their friends disguised as 'aunts and cousins.' And, as expected, things soon go haywire.

Count Bobby assumes the identity and dresses of his sick aunt because they desperately need the money for chaperoning Mary, a wealthy American heiress, on her trip through Europe. Bobby falls in love with Mary, but his dress is a handicap.

In order to promote a plumcake an adman associates with a mad scientist who has found a way to interfere with TV broadcasts.

Agostino announces an incredible invention: a device that allows one to jump into any TV show. He's promptly declared insane and ends up in an institution. Giorgio, however, who is convinced by Agostino's abilities, rescues him, and the two begin to use the invention as a marketing strategy: The cake, which comes from Giorgio's aunts' oven and hasn't sold well up to this point, is now being advertised across television.

The young musician Ralph Osterwalder, born in Bern in 1922, is tired of working in a big band. He dreams of a small, flexible ensemble. In 1944, he founded his own combo in a hotel room. In 1949, fierce disputes arose. The newly founded Hazy Osterwald Sextet, featuring Sunny Lang, Dennis Armitage, Curti Prina, Werner Dies, and Johnny Ward, soon made international music history. Fast-paced, catchy music, interspersed with humorous show interludes, became the band's unmistakable trademark.

Music Pictures gives us four legacy portraits of New Orleans music figures Irma Thomas, Little Freddie King, Ellis Marsalis, and The Tremé Brass Band. Now in their 80s, these local masters continue their practice, for the love of the music, in the city that made them who they are.
