During a freezing WWII winter, two Soviet partisans on a mission to gather food contend with the temperature, the occupying Germans, and their own psyches.

Because of the shepherd's negligence, a herd of cows almost died. Many people immediately took advantage of this circumstance to settle personal scores with the collective farm chairman Birulin, a very stroppy and harsh but knowledgeable leader. The bureau of the district committee, where not everyone was happy with him, recommends the collective farm board to remove the chairman. However, the collective farmers do not agree with this decision. The new secretary of the district committee comes to the collective farm and is convinced that the bureau has made a mistake. But the decision to reconsider the case is delayed: Birulin is hospitalized with a heart attack.

A West German concern is conducting secret negotiations on the production of an atomic bomb with an interested state. The son of the head of the concern, realizing the monstrosity and scale of his father's activities, interrupts the negotiations and returns home with the intention to publicize his father's activities.

After a strange incident, a group of russian space commandos starts developing supernatural powers. But how did they acquire such abilities and what is their intentions?

Two candidates are vying for the post of mayor of one of the major Western European cities - the Social Democrat Dr. Hayden and the "free nationalist" Alden. On the eve of the election, an independent journalist receives documents confirming Alden's connection with the secret services. The film comprises three cinematic novellas: (1) “And They Arrived at the Peasant’s Hut… or the Adventures of Writer Senya in Search of the Hidden Word,” in which writer Senya draws inspiration for his rural novels from his housekeeper Yermolayevna’s tales; (2) “The Song, or How the Great Louarsab Organized a Choir,” where a city visitor attempts to form a choir of centenarian elders in a Georgian mountain village; (3) “What Is Our Life?! or What Is Our Life?!”—during a musical reenactment of pre-Revolutionary France, a drunken actor’s tardiness forces King Louis XIV (also the theater committee chairman) and the cast to improvise the play’s ending.
