Glen James Hansard (21 April 1970 – 29 July 2026) was an Oscar winning Irish singer-songwriter and musician. From 1990, he was the frontman of the Irish rock band the Frames, with whom he released six studio albums, four of which reached the top ten of the Irish Album Charts. He was one half of folk rock duo the Swell Season before releasing his debut solo album, Rhythm and Repose, in 2012. His second album Didn't He Ramble (2015), was nominated for the Grammy Award for Best Folk Album.

They used the space for music, theatre, poetry, and there was even room made for fun, joy and laughter. Filmmaker Myles O’Reilly documented the madness.

In The Deep Shade is a feature length film about The Frames. Filmmaker Conor Masterson worked closely with the band over 18 months, beginning on their 20th anniversary tour in 2010. 'The Frames have always been very positive collaborators. I felt this was an opportunity to make a film that could explore their creativity as people and musicians as well as capturing some of their very dynamic and exciting live performances in close up.'
