Hamburg-based photographer Kim Wenrich returns to her hometown of Nebra to give a statement to the police. Decades earlier, the two men had discovered the Bronze Age Nebra Sky Disc, one of the most significant archaeological finds of the 20th century. Detective Ritter is counting on Kim’s help to solve this strange case. He wants to know why that sensational discovery turned the treasure hunters into such bitter enemies. Convinced of her father’s innocence, Kim dismisses the idea the disc carries a deadly curse, a superstition feared by some in the small town. Although she initially intends to return to Hamburg as soon as possible, she begins to pursue the truth after finding a mysterious letter from her father and being reminded by her childhood friend Jonny of a secret from their youth. In doing so, she embarks on a journey into the darkness of buried memories.

When a poison attack is made on the racehorse Cagliostro, Lou flees the Immenhof with the horse. Together they find refuge with Cal, who lives away from civilization with his semi-wild horses. In the brutal trench fighting of the First World War, a British Infantry Company is separated from their regiment after a fierce battle.
