In the 1940s, São Paulo nightlife is the setting for Tezinho's love affairs. In love with Aninha, he needs to get away from the girl and ends up getting involved with other women, including an obsessive relationship with a prostitute.

"Lula, 'bon vivant' who subsists at the expense of small blows, goes on with his life without a present or future purpose. Basically, he just tries to forget having been abandoned by his fiancee Helena, who gave in to his father's imposition. The situations in which he gets involved from then on are paradoxical, trying to survive in the best possible way and spending money he doesn't have, but which comes to him in one way or another. On a day of complete despair, Lula meets a group of "hippies" and leaves catechized. Willing to anything, he becomes a preacher of new customs and new ethics of life. In turn, Helena, whose marriage had failed, dreams of meeting Lula again, hoping to return to his arms.

Pirola is a poor guy who lives with his son Ze in a hovel on his boss's farm. One day, Pirola is surprised by the visit of an old friend who, feeling that the hour of his death approaches, decides to present him with a bag full of money.

A millionaire Aníbal sponsor a car racing, the "Youth's Rally". A couple, Helena and Fernando, want to be part of the competition but after a fight between both, they decide to compete in a team only with men and another one with women.

In São Paulo, during the 1920s, a woman who is loved by a telegraphist and seduced by a slacker ends up in prostitution.
